Valentina Chistova, owner of Aquamedica Salon and Day Spa in Pier Village, likes the challenge of an aggressive marketplace.
The savvy 60-year-old spa owner has been successfully surviving the country’s worst recession with clever marketing and meaningful messaging.
Now she has turned her skill towards drumming up business for her fellow Pier Village neighbors.
The concept is simple, each month, pick a dedicated day of the week where Pier Village businesses can come together and offer special discounts to patrons who spa, shop, or dine on that particular day, hence the name ‘Spa, Shop & Dine’.
The discounts will be focused on driving business to slower days of the week for all participating vendors.
The initiative kicks off this June on Tuesdays. Patrons will be able to take advantage of discounts and premiums from Aquamedica Salon and Day Spa, The Wine Loft, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and The Turning Point restaurant. Each month they hope to gain more participation from Pier Village businesses and continue to offer phenomenal deals to shoppers.

As we became successful with our own programs, we decided it made sense to ask other Pier Village businesses to participate with us. It is a win-win situation for all involved.”

HOW TO GET THE PERFECT EYEBROW SHAPE FOR YOUR FACE

The shape of your eyebrows can dramatically change your appearance.
Eyebrows flatter your face, balance your unique features and are the frame for your eyes. A few wrong plucks could undo the right shape, length, and width for your face.

1.To measure where your eyebrow should begin, imagine an invisible line running from the inside corner of your eye to the outermost point of your nose (hold a pencil up for a more precise look).

2.To measure where you arch should peak, imagine another invisible line running from the outermost point of your nose to the outermost part of your iris. This is where your arch should peak.

3. How Thick should your eyebrows be? This depends on the shape of your face. There are a few rules of thumb to go by. For a round face, generally a more dramatic arch can draw attention away from the roundness. Long faces should stay away from high arches, which only makes the face appear longer. Instead, your eyebrows should be flatter with less of an arch to give the illusion of a shorter face. If you have a very angular face with prominent jaws, stay away from eyebrows that are equally as angular. Keep eyebrows more round to soften the sharp angles of your face.
The first thing I do when I see a client for eyebrow shaping at my NJ spa is study their face straight on. I observe their facial features and take a mental measurement of the structure of their face. Remember, eyebrows do not come in a ‘one size fits all’ strategy. That is why I do not recommend people bring in photos of eyebrows that they want. Chances are, these eyebrows will not look good on your face. We have to work to enhance your bone structure and flatter your eyes.
Although they may not be the first thing people notice, properly groomed eyebrows can give you an instant makeover, open your eye area and make you look several years younger. You’ll feel instantly more confident.

What does a NJ Spa Party consist of at Aquamedica?
Spa parties at our NJ spa are tailored to your specific group and occasion. Parties typically last a few hours and include a selection of spa services, the most popular being massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. However, a full menu is available to choose from.
In between services, guests enjoy relaxing in our Dream Room, a dimly lit relaxation area filled with oversized lounge chairs and soft music. You can also choose to have lunch or snacks catered in to the Dream Room.
How much does a spa party cost?
The cost of a spa party depends on the services you choose and the amount of people in your group. Discounts are given off of our regularly priced services and range from 20-35% off per person. Spa parties can be made very affordable by taking advantage of our reduced price service such as ½ hour massages and ½ hour facials, and lower priced menu items like manicures and pedicures.
We are happy to work with any sized group and any budget to make your experience at Aquamedica memorable and enjoyable.
How many people can be included in a spa party?
At Aquamedica we can cater spa parties for groups as small as 4 people, to large parties of up to 50 or more people. Because our facility is 5,000 square feet and has many different departments, we can section off large parties so that everyone is being occupied at all times. All guests are kept busy either in treatment or enjoying food and refreshments in our private Dream Room.
Groups can request and have exclusive use of our facility, sometimes we close to the public. An added bonus of having a Spa Party at Aquamedica is that we are surrounded by such beautiful restaurants, shops and boutiques at Pier Village. So after the event, everyone can head to our beautiful locker rooms, shower, change and go out to enjoy a fantastic evening on the boardwalk.

According to NJ skin care expert, Valentina Chistova, folliculitis is an inflammation of the hair follicle that appears as an eruption of skin surrounding a hair or pore. Usually red bumps, or little pus bumps, characterize the disease known to many as razor burn.

There is no ‘cure’ for folliculitis, although there are treatments that can be prescribed to help clear an aggressive outbreak. Eliminating external aggravating factors, such as shaving, is the best option for long term control.

Waxing has many benefits over shaving. For starters, shaving cuts the hair, so it has a flat tip that sometimes has trouble poking through the skin — this can cause ingrown hairs and irritations.

Waxing pulls out the hair completely from the root, so when it grows in, it has a natural, pointed tip that can poke through skin easier.
After waxing, you’ll be smooth for about 2 weeks or more, depending on how fast your hair grows, as opposed to shaving which will only leave you smooth for about a day or so.
